Stay vigilant if you receive a call about your Google Maps listing!
What to Do If You Receive This Kind of Solicitation? End the Call Quickly!
If you receive a call like this and show any interest or engage in conversation with these scammers, they will relentlessly harass you, increasing the frequency of their calls. We recommend not playing into their hands, never sending them money, and ending the call as quickly as possible. It’s important to note that Google has strict policies, and its employees are never authorized to threaten customers or request payments by phone for managing Google Maps listings.
If in doubt, feel free to contact the people who manage your Google Maps listing for advice. If you own your listing, we recommend regularly checking notifications in your Google My Business account. This helps you stay aware of any notifications or required changes.
For additional information, be aware that it’s perfectly normal for a user to suggest edits to your Google Maps listing as part of Google’s collaborative process. This does not put your listing at risk, and these suggestions are subject to verification by Google.
